Deportation Advice

Deportation is the expulsion of a foreign person from a country. They may be detained until the time they can be sent back to their country of origin.

All countries have the right to deport foreigners, even those who have been residents for a long time. You may be deported if:

• you have committed a serious crime
• entered the country illegally
• overstayed your visa
• lost your legal status to remain in a country

If you have received a deportation order, you are required to leave the UK, and you will not be allowed to re-enter the country for as long as the order is in force.

Even when the order has been given effect and you are deported, you may still be banned from re-entering the UK. The ban can affect you even if you are not deported but administratively removed.
